Lake Garda is an ideal destination all year round and has a milder climate than many surrounding areas. In the summer, the temperatures are hot and the sun shines, making it ideal for lake swims and dips in the pool.
The autumn months are mild – there’s still some sunshine but rainfall is more common. Winter can be cold with rainfall, although do expect bright sunny days – perfect for lakeside walks, although well wrapped up.
Spring is pleasant with cool and bright days but you can expect some warmer days with temperatures usually ranging from 13c early on up to 21c later in May. Be prepared for rain on occasion as March & April usually have the most rainfall.

April to October are great times to visit Lake Garda and are the most popular. Temperatures are mild during the shoulder season and chances of rain are lower. May and September are possibly some of the best times to visit as temperatures are good and often in the mid-twenties. Milder temperatures make it comfortable for exploring this wonderful region yet it is still warm enough to take to the water.
Christmas and January are also lovely times to visit Lake Garda. There are nearly no crowds (apart from locals), there are often beautiful, sunny (but cold) days, ideal for strolling along the lake and Christmas markets are in full swing. And if you fancy a day in the snow, the Dolomites are all easily accessible.
July and August are the hottest months in Lake Garda, with an average temperature of 28c to 30c. This is the most popular time to visit Lake Garda, for tourists and Italians alike and the weather is perfect for enjoying the sun and beaches. The lake is warm enough to swim in and evenings are balmy and perfect for nighttime strolls along the lake.
Although Lake Garda is close to the Dolomites, it does not usually see much snow. However, Monte Baldo that towers over Malcesine and the eastern shore of Lake Garda is often covered in snow from November onwards and offers skiing or snowboarding during the winter months.
