The ferry service is one of the easiest and most scenic ways to explore Lake Como, especially if you are planning to visit more than one town during your stay. It is a lovely way to travel between some of the lake’s best-known spots, while enjoying the views from the water at the same time. Lake Como’s official ferry network includes standard passenger boats, faster services on some routes, and the well-known central lake ferry connections between Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio.
For many visitors, ferries are a much easier option than driving around the lake, particularly in the busier months when roads can be slow and parking is limited. They are especially useful if you are staying in or visiting the central part of the lake, where towns such as Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio are well connected.
Good to know: on popular routes and in peak season, it is sensible to allow a little extra time before departure, especially if you are hoping to travel at the busiest times of day.
You can book your tickets at the ticket office located near each dock or online via the Navigazione Laghi website. If booking at the ticket office before your journey we do suggest arriving with time to spare as there may be queues, especially over the holidays and summer months.
Good to know: The timetables change several times throughout the year, so make sure you are looking at the correct times for your travel date.
