Overview

Villa Azzurra sits within Eden Reserve, a private collection of architect-designed homes in the hills above Gardone Riviera.

Designed by British architect David Chipperfield, the villa uses strong geometric forms, natural materials and extensive floor-to-ceiling glazing to make the most of its elevated position above Lake Garda.

The main villa is arranged over three levels.

The entrance level contains the spacious dining room and contemporary kitchen, while the floor above has a bright study and library leading into the main living area with fireplace and panoramic lake views.

On the lower level are a second living area and three double bedroom suites. Each bedroom has a walk-through wardrobe and private en-suite bathroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows continuing across the lake-facing façade and terraces extending the rooms outside.

A separate guest suite gives the fourth bedroom genuine independence. It has its own double bedroom, bathroom, living area, kitchenette and private lake-view terrace, making it useful for grandparents, another couple or accompanying staff.

Outside, stone terraces lead towards the heated infinity pool overlooking Lake Garda. Alongside it sits the pool house with relaxation space, sauna and an additional bathroom.

Location

Villa Azzurra sits within Eden Reserve in the hills above Gardone Riviera, close to the Vittoriale degli Italiani.

Upper Gardone, with its restaurants and cafés, is approximately a 15-minute walk from the villa.
The lakefront area of Gardone Riviera is just over 1km away and around 20 minutes downhill on foot, with restaurants, cafés, small shops and access to the ferry network.

The return journey is uphill, so we would still recommend having a car. The villa is not remote, but a vehicle makes shopping and exploring the wider lake considerably easier.

Villa Azzurra is approximately one hour by car from Verona Airport and Milan Bergamo Airport.

Good to know

Villa Azzurra is arranged over several levels, but a lift connects the main floors of the villa.

The independent guest suite provides excellent privacy but sits separately from the three bedrooms in the main villa.

The villa does not have conventional individual air-conditioning units in each bedroom. The bedrooms are cooled using an underfloor system supported by air circulation and dehumidification.

Conventional air conditioning is available in the main living area and the corridor serving the sleeping area.

A dedicated laundry area on the lower floor has a washing machine and dryer.

The infinity pool can be heated on request at an additional charge.

Private indoor garage parking is available for two cars.

The villa is within walking distance of Gardone Riviera, but the return is uphill. We recommend having a car for everyday practicality and exploring further around the lake.

Experiences

Villa Azzurra suits a stay where time at the house is every bit as important as exploring Lake Garda.

A private boat day from Gardone Riviera is an easy way to see more of the lake, while the nearby Vittoriale degli Italiani makes for an interesting morning or afternoon without travelling far.
