- Great group layout with bedroom flexibility and lake-view suites

Why we love this villa
- Villa Girasole has real estate presence. The views are wide and open, the gardens feel immersive, and the setting gives you that harder-to-find sense of privacy and tranquility that makes the villa feel like a destination in its own right.
- It is also more distinctive than a standard pool villa, with a natural swimming pool, the outdoor jacuzzi, the Finnish sauna, and quiet nooks dotted around the garden – all perfect spots to soak up stunning Lake Garda views.
- Villa Girasole works really well for groups too. The bedroom layout is flexible, several rooms can be made into twins, and the fact that the villa sits within the same estate as Villa Stella also makes it useful for larger combined stays.
Perfect for
- Families or friends looking for a peaceful lake-view villa where the setting feels really special.
- Groups who want privacy, outside space and a slower villa-led stay rather than being close to town.
- Guests who look for character and atmosphere, and are happy with a hillside location and car-dependent setting in return for the views and tranquil setting.
- Larger retreats or multi-family stays, especially when paired with Villa Stella on the same estate.

Overview
Villa Girasole is set in the hills on Lake Garda’s eastern shore, in a wonderfully peaceful position above Castelletto di Brenzone. Surrounded by a private 21-acre estate, it is a villa chosen for its atmosphere, tranquility and stunning views.
The villa is spread over 3 levels and sleeps up to 12 guests across 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The style is warm and traditional rather than minimal, with each bedroom suite offering lake views. The heart of the villa is the main living space, with kitchen, dining area and sitting room, making it an easy place to settle into for long breakfasts, lazy afternoons and slower evenings at home.
Outside, the estate is a major part of the appeal. There are ancient olive trees, wild flowers, and colourful, lake-facing gardens that make the villa feel quiet and immersed in nature. The natural swimming pool is a standout feature, while the Finnish sauna and heated outdoor jacuzzi give it a lovely appeal beyond the hottest weeks of summer.
This is not a walkable-in-practice village villa. It is better suited to guests who want a private hillside retreat with space, views and a more distinctive setting, while still being within easy driving distance of Brenzone, Malcesine and Torri del Benaco.
Location
Villa Girasole is above Castelletto di Brenzone on the eastern shore of Lake Garda. Castelletto itself is a small lakeside village with a handful of restaurants, a small supermarket and ferry stops twice daily in the summer.
There is an old Roman path running past the villa down to Castelletto and up towards Prada. On foot, the route down to the village takes around 15 minutes, but it is steep and on a stone path, so it is better thought of as an occasional scenic walk than easy everyday access.
In practical terms, a car is required here. The villa is around 5km by car from Castelletto, and the final approach is via a steep gravel road of around 600 metres. Please make sure you are confident driving and we highly recommend a sturdy vehicle.
Parking is available just outside the villa for up to 4 cars.
For exploring further afield, Malcesine and Torri del Benaco are both around 15 minutes away by car. Verona Airport is around 1 hour away, while Milan Bergamo Airport is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away.

Layout
- The villa is arranged over three levels.
- A key practical point is that the floors are not connected internally, so each level is accessed from outside.
- The main living space is centred around the kitchen, dining area and sitting room.
Outside space / pool
- Set within a 21-acre private estate with wide lake views
- Natural swimming pool with chemical-free water, filtered through aquatic planting
- Heated outdoor jacuzzi
- Finnish sauna
- Outside dining areas and barbecue
- Extensive gardens with olive trees, exotic planting and open lake-facing grounds
Good to know
The villa is climate controlled with a natural ventilation system throughout – keeping the villa warm in autumn and cool in the summer. The bedrooms have air conditioning.
Wi-Fi is available in the villa.
Please note that the garden has several unfenced walls and drops, so children should be supervised at all times
A car is essential here. The final access road is steep and gravelled, and guests should be comfortable driving. There is parking just outside the villa for up to 4 cars.
This layout makes the villa particularly useful for mixed groups who want a combination of en-suite rooms and a shared family-style top floor. It is also worth noting that the lack of internal connection between floors may suit some groups very well, while others may prefer a more traditionally connected house.
The estate also includes Villa Stella and a separate private home. Each property is independent, and the owners live around 200 metres from Villa Girasole, available if needed but without disturbing guests during their stay.
And here are few, fun & interesting facts about this wonderful villa
- Almost all the materials for the furniture has been sourced locally
- The villa is built out of wood sourced from South Tyrol
- The villa has a natural swimming pool and no chemicals are used to treat the water. The water is cleaned by special plants in the water and is really kind even to the skin!
- There are bee hives at the property (at a distance from the villa) and the villa owners produce their own honey. There is also a chicken house in the villa grounds.
- Water at the villa is sourced from its own deep well. It’s fresh mountain spring water, is tested regularly and is the very best drinking quality. The villa owners encourage guests to drink the tap water, rather than buying water and also provide a soda stream for you to make your own sparkling water – another way to reduce plastic bottle usage.
Experiences
Villa Girasole is a great fit for a slower stay where the setting is part of the experience. It is easy to imagine mornings at the villa, a late lunch under the trees, then an afternoon split between the pool, the jacuzzi and the view.
For groups staying here, it makes sense to lean into the estate feel. A first-evening meal, pre-stocking or one properly chosen chef night would all work especially well, allowing everyone to settle in without needing to head straight back down the hill. The setting also suits slower experiences such as wine tasting, olive-oil-focused food experiences, or a boat day paired with a quieter evening back at the villa.
For guests who do want to explore more widely, the eastern shore gives easy access by car to Malcesine, Torri del Benaco and the ferry network from nearby lakeside villages.

Where do we begin with our stay at Maibrit and Hildegarde’s property? Our family agreed that this was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Not only were we greeted with a stunning view, the little details during our stay was what made it extra special. After a long day of travel, Maibrit had prepared basic groceries for us, which meant we didn’t need to head out again for dinner. During our stay, Hildegarde kindly made delicious apple strudel, and they were generous enough to let us pick fresh herbs from the garden to use in our meals. They even made sure to put up an extra bed and fence around the pool as we were travelling with a toddler. Other than the exceptional service, the property was clean, well organised and beautifully designed. The only minor challenge was the road going into the property, but after the first drive in, it was easy to navigate. We would highly recommend this lovely property to anyone considering a stay here, and we truly hope to return again!

Villa Girasole was so perfect and beautiful in every aspect. It was well maintained, clean and had lovely owners. We stayed here for our wedding and had a group of 10 adults, with 3 cars. The driveway is steep and you do need medium size cars and to be confident drivers but it was well worth it. The staff at the lake garda Villa company were friendly and accommodating. We were given lots of information and the company was very quick to respond via email to any query we had. The lake garda Villa company also recommend a chef for our wedding dinner, Josephine was incredible. The villa had truly breathtaking views of the lake. We can’t wait to come back!
