Overview

Villa Girasole Estate sits in the hills above Castelletto di Brenzone on Lake Garda’s eastern shore, surrounded by 21 acres of private grounds and panoramic views across the lake.

The estate combines Villa Girasole and Villa Stella, two independent homes with quite different characters. Together they provide nine bedrooms, separate kitchens and living areas, two pools and plenty of space for a larger group to spread out.

Villa Girasole is the larger of the two. Sleeping up to 12 guests across six bedrooms, it has a warm, individual feel and is surrounded by extensive gardens with a natural swimming pool, heated outdoor jacuzzi and Finnish sauna. Built into the hillside, the house steps down across three separate levels, each with its own outside access.

Villa Stella has a cleaner, more contemporary feel and a simpler single-level arrangement. There are three en-suite double bedrooms, together with a TV room with a full-sized sofa bed that can provide additional sleeping space for two children. The open kitchen, dining and living area faces the lake and opens onto a long terrace, private pool and garden.

Together, the two villas work well for extended families or groups who want to share a holiday without needing to share every part of the house. Everyone can come together for meals and time outside, while each villa still offers its own space to retreat to.

Outside, the estate is a major part of the experience. Ancient olive trees, wild flowers, mature planting and wide lake views create a wonderfully peaceful setting. This is somewhere to enjoy as a destination in its own right rather than simply using it as a base between days out.

Location

Villa Girasole Estate is above Castelletto di Brenzone on the eastern shore of Lake Garda.

Castelletto is a small lakeside village with restaurants, a small supermarket and summer ferry connections. An old Roman path runs past the estate, heading down towards Castelletto in one direction and up towards Prada in the other.

The walk down to Castelletto takes around 15 minutes, but it is steep and follows a stone path. We think of it as an occasional scenic walk rather than practical everyday access, particularly as the return is uphill.

In day-to-day terms, a car is essential. The estate is around 5km by road from Castelletto and the final approach includes approximately 600 metres of steep gravel road. Guests should be comfortable driving and we strongly recommend a sturdy vehicle.

Parking is available within the estate.

Malcesine and Torri del Benaco are both around 15 minutes away by car, giving you easy access to more of the eastern shore. Verona Airport is around 1 hour away and Milan Bergamo Airport approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away.

Villa Girasole Estate is made up of two independent villas, each with its own kitchen, living space and outside areas.

The two-villa setup gives larger groups useful flexibility. Different families or generations can have their own home while remaining together within the same estate.

Good to know

The wider estate includes Villa Girasole, Villa Stella and a separate private home. Each property is independent. The owners live around 200 metres from Villa Girasole and are available if needed, while remaining discreet during your stay.

A car is essential here. The final approach includes a steep gravel road and guests should be comfortable driving. We strongly recommend a sturdy vehicle.

Villa Girasole uses a natural ventilation system to help regulate the temperature throughout the house, and its bedrooms have air conditioning.

Villa Stella has underfloor heating and cooling together with an automated air circulation and filtration system rather than conventional bedroom air-conditioning units.

Villa Girasole’s three levels are not internally connected. Each is accessed independently from outside.

The additional sofa bed in Villa Stella is best suited to children rather than adults.

There are unfenced walls and drops within the gardens, so children should be supervised outside.

Wi-Fi and laundry facilities are available.

The estate has its own deep well, with water that is regularly tested and suitable for drinking. A SodaStream is also provided to help reduce the use of plastic bottles.

There are beehives positioned away from the villas and the owners produce their own honey. There is also a chicken house within the estate grounds.

Experiences

Villa Girasole Estate is well suited to a slower Lake Garda stay where the setting is a large part of the holiday.

For a group of this size, pre-arrival grocery shopping or a first-evening meal can make arrival much easier, giving everyone time to settle into the two villas without immediately needing to head back down the hill.

The two-house arrangement also gives the group plenty of flexibility during the week. Some guests can stay beside the pools while others explore Malcesine, Torri del Benaco or the lake by boat, before everyone comes back together later in the day.
