Desenzano del Garda Travel Guide

A wonderful place to use as a base, Desenzano del Garda is one of the most accessible places to visit on Lake Garda. Near to both Verona and Milan airports, Desenzano has a train station within walking distance of the lake. With a ferry port too as well as great bus connections, it is a great choice if you want to explore the area using public transport.

The surrounding area may not be as dramatic as the mountainous northern parts of Lake Garda but Desenzano del Garda still provides beautiful views of the mountains on a clear day and the surrounding flat lands are filled with vineyards and olive groves. There is an array of restaurants, bars and shops to fill your days and when you are not eating or shopping there is the impressive small castle overlooking the town and the historical Roman Villa, also well worth a visit.

Use the local ferry service to visit neighbouring Sirmione or rent your own from one of the local companies and explore the stunning Isola del Garda.

Location: Found on the southern shores of Lake Garda
