Overview

The estate is a collection of eight independent villas set within 20,000 sqm of Mediterranean gardens in the hills above Toscolano Maderno and Bogliaco.

Taken together, the estate accommodates up to 36 adults across 18 bedrooms, with additional beds available for up to 11 children in selected villas.

Rather than one large house, Colago is arranged as a series of individual villas of different sizes. This gives larger groups much more flexibility: some guests can stay in one of the larger villas, while couples or smaller families have their own separate accommodation nearby.

The estate includes three larger villas — Olivaia, Limonaia and Cedraia — together with Oleandro, Gelsomino, Fiordaliso, Orchidea and Agatea.

Each villa has its own kitchen and living space. Several have private gardens and heated pools, while guests across the estate can also use the heated infinity pool and wider facilities.

This setup works well for multi-generation groups and friends travelling together. Everyone can be part of the same holiday, but there is still somewhere private to retreat to at the end of the day.

Location

Colago Estate sits in the hills above Bogliaco and Toscolano Maderno, on the western shore of Lake Garda.

The estate is surrounded by terraced Mediterranean gardens planted with olive, lemon and cypress trees, with views across Lake Garda and Bogliaco Golf directly below.

The small lakeside village of Bogliaco, part of Gargnano, is around 3 km away. Here you’ll find a marina, beach and a small selection of places to eat and drink.

For everyday shopping and a larger choice of restaurants and services, Toscolano Maderno is the closest larger town. A large supermarket is around 4 km away, approximately a 10-minute drive, and Toscolano Maderno also has beaches and a ferry port with connections across Lake Garda.

A car is needed for stays here. The hillside setting is part of the appeal, but the surrounding towns, lakefront and everyday amenities are most easily reached by car.

For guests looking to stay without a vehicle, transfers can be arranged as well as grocery shopping and private chefs.

How the estate works

The estate is not one large 18-bedroom house.

The accommodation is divided across eight independent villas, each with its own living and kitchen spaces.

This gives larger groups a more flexible setup, with different families or couples able to stay in separate villas while remaining close to one another within the same estate.

The larger villas offer more substantial private gardens and wellness facilities, while the smaller villas provide compact independent accommodation with their own private outside space and heated mini-pools.

Pools & wellness

• The estate has a heated infinity pool available to guests across the estate.
• Seven of the villas also have their own private mini-pool. Villa Olivaia has a private heated outdoor Jacuzzi.

The different villa sizes make it possible to create a practical rooming arrangement for multi-generation groups, couples and families travelling together.

Air conditioning is available throughout each villa.

Where additional child beds are available, these are provided free of charge on request, either as a cot for children aged 0–3 or as a fold-up bed measuring 80 x 190 cm

Breakfast is included for all guests.

Guests staying in the smaller villas also have access to a shared self-service laundry room.

Private parking is available within the estate.

A car is needed for stays here.

The estate has on-site assistance during the day, with local support available throughout the stay.

Experiences

The estate works well for groups who want the villa itself to be a large part of the holiday.

Days can be kept simple with breakfast, time beside the pools and slower afternoons in the gardens, while private chef evenings are an easy way to bring everyone together.

For time away from the estate, nearby Gargnano and Toscolano Maderno offer lakefront restaurants, beaches and ferry connections.

Bogliaco Golf sits directly below the estate.

Boat trips can be arranged from the western shore, while private chefs, transfers and other local experiences can be organised in advance through our team.

Weddings & events

The estate is also available for weddings, celebrations and private events, with the full estate offering a wonderful combination of guest accommodation, landscaped grounds and different spaces for bringing everyone together.

Events are offered on a full-estate buyout basis, giving the host and their guests exclusive use of the property for the duration of the event stay.

The estate currently works well for weddings and events of up to approximately 90–100 guests, with accommodation available across the eight villas for the residential group. Guests who are not staying at the estate can stay in nearby accommodation and attend the celebrations at the estate.

The grounds allow different parts of the celebration to take place in different settings, making Colago excellent for a longer wedding stay rather than simply the wedding day itself. A typical arrangement often includes a welcome evening before the event followed by the main celebration, with a relaxed pool party or farewell brunch the following day.

There is also an indoor wet-weather option for up to approximately 60 guests. For larger events where a full weather contingency is required, a marquee can be arranged alongside the existing event spaces.

The local team work alongside wedding planners and external suppliers throughout the stay, helping coordinate the practical use of the estate and event spaces.

Wedding and event stays have a minimum stay of 3 nights and are priced separately from standard villa stays.
