Why we love this villa
Villa Limone is one of those rare places where the setting does the talking. It feels private and serene, yet you can still walk down to the lake for aperitivo and ferry days. The limonaia history gives it character, and the outdoor areas make it very easy to live well here.
- The terraced gardens and lake-facing terraces create an “all day outside” rhythm, from breakfast to sunset
- The pool area is excellent, with plenty of space to lounge and a full bathroom right there
- It’s walkable to Gargnano, which makes the week feel lighter and less car-dependent than many villas on this part of the lake
Perfect for
- Families who want a unique Lake Garda setting with walkability to town and ferries
- Two families travelling together, with a pool that works brilliantly for children
- Guests who love outdoor living and want terraces, gardens and views to be central to the stay
- A week of “slow mornings and easy evenings”, with the option to explore by ferry rather than driving every day
Feel free to share your dates and priorities and we’ll confirm availability and advise on the best fit.
Overview
Villa Limone is a modern restoration of a historic limonaia, typical of Gargnano and dating back to the 1700s. The villa sits in full view of Lake Garda, surrounded by terraced gardens of olive and lemon trees, with mature bougainvillea throughout and a real sense of privacy.
The interiors are bright and contemporary while retaining original features such as stone walls and pillars. On the main living level you have a fully equipped kitchen and indoor dining, plus two separate lounge areas with lake views, including a dedicated TV room. The layout suits a week of indoor/outdoor living, with doors leading straight out to terraces for dining and relaxing.
The villa sleeps up to eight guests across four bedroom suites. Two double bedrooms have air conditioning and en-suite shower bathrooms. A third double bedroom has a ceiling fan and an en-suite shower bathroom. The fourth bedroom has twin beds that can be joined to form a double, and it has its own private terrace overlooking the lake. All bathrooms have showers, and there is a fifth full shower bathroom located beside the pool, which is particularly useful for pool days.
Outside, the pool is a real highlight: a large 15m x 5m private pool with a deck and sun loungers, plus a covered gazebo furnished as an outdoor lounge. Between the gardens, terraces and the lake view, it’s very easy to settle in here and let the week unfold at villa pace.
Location
Villa Limone is within easy walking distance of Gargnano for the lake, shops and restaurants, and there is also a ferry port here, which is one of the simplest ways to explore more of Lake Garda without driving. If you’re planning to use the ferries, our Lake Garda ferry guide is a helpful starting point.
Although Gargnano is a small village, it’s a lovely one for a walkable week: a handful of quaint local shops, a relaxed waterfront, and a good choice of restaurants and pizzerias for evenings out. There are several informal spots right on the lake with tables by the water, so you can keep nights simple – a stroll down, dinner, then an easy walk back up.
Parking is not directly at the villa. Guests are provided with municipal permission tags that allow parking in public spaces in town, and there are two public car parks below the villa. The final access to the villa is up a steep, narrow route (so cars don’t go right to the door), but you receive a private baggage service to bring luggage up to the villa entrance on arrival and departure.
The villa is approximately 1.5 hours’ drive from Milan Bergamo Airport and Verona Airport.

Good to know
This is a terraced, hillside property with multiple level changes, so it best suits guests comfortable with stairs. Some paths into town are steep.
Air conditioning is in two of the four bedrooms, while the other bedrooms use fans and are positioned to stay naturally cooler. The dining room and sitting room on the first floor are also air conditioned.
Parking is managed via municipal permission tags for public spaces in town, and luggage is transferred by a private baggage service up to the villa. The villa is around 300 metres from the parking area. There is no private parking at the villa. This is all straightforward once you know the system, but it’s worth understanding before arrival.
Experiences
Villa Limone suits a week of easy lake living: slow mornings on the terrace, a ferry day across the water, then back to the pool and a relaxed evening in town.
Pre-stocking works particularly well here because arrival is via the baggage service, and it means you can settle in straight away. For a standout evening, an in-villa cooking experience is a lovely fit for families and friends travelling together.

The villa is beautiful, set on many levels, stylishly decorated with beautiful plants and flowers. The location is exceptional with a direct view of Lake Garda, and then only 5 minutes walk down to Gargnano. The swimming pool is excellent, the perfect size for a good swim. Plenty of spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, fantastic open plan kitchen/diner/living room, additional TV room, lots of outdoor space including a table tennis table and barbecue. I cannot fault the villa or the organisation and communication of the management.

This was our second stay and it’s a stunning property. It has everything you need and a short 5 minute walk from town. From sitting watching the world go by on the balcony or choosing one of the many terraces to sit or laying by the pool, if you want luxury and a private feel this is the place. I can’t fault the property or the service I received from Novella and her team. First class from booking to leaving.

The views at the villa are breathtaking and better than the photos. The pool was perfect for our group of two families with kids ages 6-9. The walk to town was short but down a steep hill – other routes to town were available that were not as challenging. We fell in love with Gargnano – the people, the restaurants, the views, the gelato. Novella was quick to respond to any questions or requests we had and the check in process was very easy.

The setting in the old limonea is exquisite, the view extraordinary. Novella answered all of my sometimes minor questions immediately and was very helpful with restaurant reservations. Gargnano is a perfect little town and we fell in love with it and its friendly people and good restaurants. While we loved the villa, the bedrooms were small, and basic, and the many level changes were sometimes difficult to deal with. I do not remember the spiral stairs being mentioned in the description. Had we been 7 people, as we originally booked, rather than the 5 we ended up with, we would have felt really cramped. So, perhaps a more complete description would let people know the layout better.
