Spring is a glorious time to visit Lake Como with temperatures being cooler than the summer yet still with low amounts of rainfall. Autumn still retains some of the summer heat but between September and November, showers are more likely.
Summer in Lake Como is fantastic. It sees both visitors and locals enjoying the waters, lakeside restaurants and beaches with temperatures averaging up to 30c. It’s a busier time of year here and is a fantastic time to see the bustle of this wonderful area in full swing.
Winter sees colder temperatures and although snow isn’t common near the lake, the towering mountains often see a blanket of white for the whole season. With cool but bright days, head to nearby Milan to experience winter in this beautiful city or head a little further north and hit the slopes in some of this area’s Italy’s best ski resorts
The Italian Lakes are connected to a great network of trains and roads and a hire car is the number one way to explore Lake Como, offering all the freedom you need. For stays in the popular areas such as Bellagio and if you’d rather not drive, then an Airport Transfer is the perfect way to get to your villa stress-free. By Plane
Located in the north of Italy and close to Milan, Lake Como is served by a number of airports and all within easy reach. Milan Malpensa is the most convenient at around 40 minutes from Como and is the largest long-haul airport in the north of Italy. Both Milan Linate and Milan Bergamo airport offer good connections and both are within an hour drive.
By Train
Italy’s train service provides frequent and reliable transport through Italy and offers an excellent service connecting Lake Como to the main city of Milan. Travel between Milan Central and Como in the south of the lake in 40 minutes with Varenna further north in just 1 hour. Book Train Tickets online here.
