Enjoying a milder climate all year round in comparison to other nearby regions, Lake Maggiore receives most of its visitors between May and September when the weather is warmest. Rainfall is usually at it’s peak during spring but the temperatures start to climb.
Summer in Lake Maggiore is the most popular time to visit with average temperatures around 30c – think water-sports, Alpine hikes and lakeside lunches. Early September cools a little but with mild temperatures, makes for an excellent should-season break.
Winter sees colder temperatures and you can expect snow on the higher peaks. With cool but bright days, head to nearby Milan to experience winter in this beautiful city or head a little further north and hit the slopes in some of this area’s best ski resorts
The best way of discovering the Italian Lakes and Lake Maggiore is by car but if you prefer to stay central and rather not drive, then a private Airport Transfer is an easy and quick way to get here.

Located in the north of Italy and close to Milan, Lake Maggiore is served by a number of airports and all within easy reach. Milan Malpensa is the most convenient at about 45 minutes from Stresa and is the largest long-haul airport in the north of Italy. Both Milan Linate and Milan Bergamo airport offer good connections and both are within 90 minutes.
