Overview

A spectacular cliff-side villa, Villa Ponti is nestled in private woodland close to Bellagio in Lake Como, peaceful and secluded, Villa Ponti offers incredible views over the lake below and makes for a truly unique Italian villa stay. Spanning three acres and featuring lush forests and gardens, this home is just a 10 minute walk from the village of Civenna and only 15 minutes drive from Bellagio.

A mid-century home and designed in collaboration with one of Italy’s most famous architects, Villa Ponti has been carefully renovated to retain many of its original features including an original 1960s bar. The top living room is truly unique and not only features a wonderful fireplace and talking pit but 11 large windows facing the lake making the perfect spot to watch both sunrise and sunset.

The villa is built into the cliffside and is spread over two floors, the upper floor being the main entrance area. The entrance foyer opens into the main living areas and kitchen space, the best spots in the house for entertaining. Relax in the sunken lounge around the fireplace or gaze from the stunning lake view windows. The vintage bar is here too and the elegant kitchen includes bespoke interiors alongside modern appliances and has everything you need for an exquisite Lake Como dinner party.

Step outside to the stunning lake view terrace on one side, with its 180 degree view of the Lecco arm of Lake Como or the garden terrace on the other, complete with barbecue and outdoor dining areas. Whichever one you choose, enjoy al-fresco dining at it’s very best.

Villa Ponti sleeps 12 guests across 6 bedrooms where you can expect the same quality beds and linen as in Milan’s 5 star hotel Principe di Savoia Hotel. The bedrooms are located over the two floors with the first two ensuite bedrooms on the main, top floor. These both feature king size beds which can be separated into twin beds and both have original 1960s ensuite bathrooms.

The lower floor is home to the remaining four bedrooms. The first is a wonderful room with views over the gardens and lake. There’s a sitting area and access outside to the lake side balcony. This room has a king size bed which can be separated and there is an original ensuite bathroom too. The second bedroom is another king size which can be converted into a twin room and has ensuite bathroom and access outside to the garden sitting area.

The third bedroom on this floor is a double room with access to the lake view balcony and shares a lovely original bathroom with the last bedroom, a king which is available as a twin room if needed.

In addition to the bedrooms, the lower floor features another well-appointed living space with lounge, dining area and a well-equipped kitchenette. There’s a fantastic terrace here too with outdoor lounge and dining area and those same, incredible views over the lake below.

On the lower level, the gardens are set amongst splendid cedars and firs and have a wonderful lake facing swimming pool. Sit back and relax poolside, play games with the kids or simply cool off during sun soaked afternoons – the pool has plenty of sun loungers and there’s a separate shallow children’s pool too. Enjoy the villa’s own bocce court in the garden, great for all ages and for true relaxation, head to the hot tub or sauna.

Good to Know

Please note the stunning grounds include plenty of steps leading to the pool and various terraced levels, so you will need to keep an eye on little ones when outside.

The villa has air conditioned bedrooms and has WIFI throughout.

Laundry facilities are available.

The caretakers live on-site in a separate, set-contained apartment with a private entrance near to the front gate.

Location

Located on the Lecco arm of Lake Como, Villa Ponti is just a 10 minute walk from the village of Civenna which offers a few cafes, bars and a supermarket. The famous lakeside town of Bellagio is around 15 minutes drive away and ferries can whisk you away to other wonderful lakeside towns such as Varenna and Menaggio. Head across the lake to Villa del Balbianello, a stunning house used in feature films including both Star Wars and James Bond.

The towns of Lecco and Como are both around 45 minutes drive away while Milan can be reached in just over an hour, making them perfect day-trip destinations.

A vehicle is essential here and the villa has ample space for up to 10 vehicles.

This villa is just over a 1 hour drive to Milan Malpensa and Linate Airports and around 90 minutes to Milan Bergamo Airport.
